However I have only ever heard the cash pronunciationīut it isn't caché, it's cache. I would say it's pronounced exactly the same way as 'cash' in every instance I can think of, but I'm guessing the OP knows someone with a fairly 'posh' way of speaking who draws out the a? I have to say I have never heard it pronounced as the OP suggested with a long a sound (eɪ), but I've never heard it pronounced in the"formerly" way suggested either.
